FOUNDATION: It was created like Department, for law on November 21 of 1832.
CAPITAL: Chachapoyas.
ÁREA: 39,249 km2.
HEIGHT: 2,334 m.a.s.l.
LOCATION: Northwest of Perú, on the right side of Utcubamba River.
WEATHER: Annual average temperature 15º C. (máx.22º C / mín. 13º C).
RAIN SEASON: December to March.

  • June - Tourist Week of Chachapoyas: Social recreational activities and development of the Raymillacta of the Chachapoyas,It is a folkloric event where the different communities meet in the city of Chachapoyas showing the best of their folklore, dances, customs, etc.
  • Agosto - Fiesta Patronal Virgen de Asunta:
    "August - Virgin Supervisory Celebration of Asunta: Within the religious tourist calendar of this city, it is the most important celebration. .Procession by the streets. Development of artisan and farming fairs. Presentation of  "Caballos de paso" and Fireworks.
